Northumberland

Northumberland County is home to the two long distance trails which make up the southern portion of the COLT:  the Ganaraska Hiking Trail and the Waterfront Trail.

The Ganaraska Trail starts in Port Hope and winds its way through Central Ontario until it eventually hooks up with the Bruce Trail. Port Hope's Chamber of Commerce provides a trail map or contact the Ganaraska Trail Association.

Hike, cycle or drive through historic communities and pastoral lands along the portion of Ontario's 350-km Waterfront Trail that runs along the Lake Ontario shoreline through Northumberland County to Trenton.  This trail may be accessed from Port Hope, Cobourg, Grafton, Colborne and Brighton.

Northumberland features a portion of the Trans Canada Trail (intersecting COLT) which includes the Hastings to Hoards Station abandoned CN rail line.  We would love to send you a free topographical map outlining this special section of the Trans Canada Trail.

Twenty other trails in Northumberland are outlined in our free Discover our Trails publication.  Email us with your request.
